Did you know that in Africa, Micro, small and medium scale enterprises contribute to an estimated 70% of employment in the whole region? This means that majority of our work force comes from people running their own startups and businesses. It has been argued that MSMEs are the backbone of the economic development of any society, because they have sustainable structures of growth, increasing employment opportunities and contribute massively to the nation’s GDP.
This is why this year, we are going to throw a lot of spotlight on the working mechanisms of MSMEs from different parts of Africa, their challenges, successes and innovative ideas for growth and expansion. We intend to give a voice and a platform for the projection of inclusion of people at the forefront and people at the background, from the grassroots to those already trailblazing in the industries of finance, development and innovation.
Paying close attention to basic available tools that can help facilitate the average business person, especially tech tools, is very important because we are presently being launched into the the 4th industrial revolution, a period where digitalized economies and systems will always thrive better and drive development. Monitoring trends for growth will be our responsibility all year round.
